Yutyrannus is probably the most famous dinosaur here, famous for being the largest known dinosaur with feathers (proper feathers) ( less cute than it sounds) we have all dinosaur names beginning with Y, but there are plenty more letters you can check out on this site.

Yamaceratops
in 2022 there was a juvenile described that recovered in 2014 that was three years old and will offer more detail on this primitive Horned dinosaur
Yamaceratops Name Meaning: “Yama Horned Face”
Yandusaurus
Yandusaurus lived in the mid of the Jurassic period in China. it was two legged herbivore that was discovered in 1973. it would have been a fast runner and quite small at 5 feet long and about 15 lbs ( 7kg) in weight.
However these were all young dinosaurs and fully grown it was thought to possibly reach 3-4 metres (13 feet) and be up to 300 lbs ( 140 kg) in weight.
Yandusaurus Name Meaning: “Yandu / Zigong Lizard”
Yangchuanosaurus
Yangchuanosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived 168 to 157 million years ago in China. It was found in 1977 in Yongchuan, sichuan where it gets its name.
It Would have been 26 feet long when fully grown and a later species could be up t 35 feet ( 11 metres long) it would have weighed 7,000 lbs. ( 3300kg)
Yangchuanosaurus Name Meaning: “Yangchuan Lizard”
Yaverlandia
Yaverlandia is a maniraptoran / raptor like dinosaur not a pachycephalosaurus or an iguanodon as first described in 1930 when it was discovered. there are not huge amounts of fossils found, though some one were found in 2012 btu are still being studied.
Yaverlandia Name Meaning: ” For yaverland Point”
Yehuecauhceratops
Yehuecauhceratops was a late cretaceous horned dinosaur (ceratopsian) that lived 72 million years ago. it was discovered between 2007 and 2011 but not named until 2017.
it was likely a young dinosaur that was discovered as it was about 10 feet long
Yehuecauhceratops Name Meaning: “Ancient Horned face”
Yi Qi
Yi Qi is the dinosaur with the shortest name, which you can read more about here ( and the longest name for a dinosaur) it had bat like wings and lived in china about 164 to 159 million years ago during the mid to late Jurassic period.
Yi Qi would have weighed less than a pound (400 grams) and had feathered to go with those bat like wings.

Yimenosaurus
Yimenosaurus was an early sauropod that was small in size ( for long necked dinosaur) at about 30 feet long and 4000 plus pounds ( 2000 kg) it was discovered in 1990 in China.
Yimenosaurus Name Meaning: “Yimen Lizard”
YINGSHANOSAURUS
Yingshanosaurus was a member of the stegosaurus family, again from China, that lived 155 million years ago. it was discovered in 1983 but fully classified in 1994. It was a herbivore about 14-17 feet long, much smaller than a stegosaurus.
it did have spines or spikes on its shoulders like kentrosaurus and gigantspinosaurus
YINGSHANOSAURUS name meaning: “Tingshan / Golden Hills reptile”
Yinlong
Yinlong was a horned face family member ( ceratopsian) but a very early one. it lived 158 million years ago. It was small at 4 feet long and would have weighed about 33 lbs ( 15kg) unlike later horned face dinosaurs it would have walked on its hind legs.
Even though it was a member of the horned face dinosaurs it had no horns, and just a frill that was much much smaller than later dinosaurs. it was discovered in 2004.
Yinlong Name Meaning: “Hidden Dragon”
Yixianosaurus
Although not thought to be a fully flying dinosaur it was thought to be able to glide and move in the air to some degree. It was found in 2003.
Yixianosaurus Name Meaning: ” Yixian Lizard”
It was similar to other early sauropods and was thought to move on two legs more than four and was relatively small at about 7 metres long (22 feet) It was discovered in 2002 but not named until 2018.
Yizhaousaurus Name Meaning: “big legged lizard”
Yongjinglong
Yongjinglong is another sauropod from china, but unlike the long necked dinosaur above, this one was an late cretaceous dinosaur that lived about 90-80 million years ago. It was discovered in 2008 and named in 2014
Yongjinglong Name Meaning: “Yongjing dragon”
YUANMOUSAURUS
Yuanmousaurus was a large sauropod from China that lived during the Mid jurassic period. it could be 56 feet long and was discovered in 2000. As not much is know you are learn more about super sized sauropods here.
Yuanmousaurus Name Meaning: “Yuanmou lizard”
Yueosaurus
There are not many fossils of yueosaurus discovered so far, but it has been identified as a Early to Late Cretaceous dinosaur that was a member of the ornithischian family and was named in 2012. .
Barsboldia Name Meaning: “Yue Lizard”
Yulong
Was an oviraptor family member ( again from China) that was discovered / named in 2013. It was a small dinosaur, even for an oviraptor, and was about 50 cm long – chicken sized as described.
There have also been nests found, and it was a feathered dinosaur. One of these eggs had a very well preserved embryo inside it.
It has been found with fish scales in its stomach and may have hunted fish in the water as well.
Yulong Name Meaning: “Yu Dragon”
Yunnanosaurus
yunnanisaurus was an early sauropod ( from China again!) that lived 201-169 million years ago during the early jurassic period. It was a small long neck dinosaur at 7 metres (23 feet) it was discovered in 1942, 2951 and 2007.
Like other early sauropods it walked on two legs. It also had over 60 teeth shaped like a spoon.
Yunnanisaurus Name Meaning: “Batyro Lizard”
Yugovuchia
Yugovuchia is a rare meating eating dinosaur in the dinosaur names beginning with y. ( though the next one helps make up for this as well. It was a raptor like dinosaur (dromaeosaur) that lived 139 to 134 million years ago in what is now Utah.
The first fossils were discovered in 2005, and although only known from a single set of fossils it is estimated to be about 8 feet long ( 2.5 metres)
Yugovuchia Name Meaning: “Coyote”
Yutyrannus
Yutyrannus is a great way to wrap up the dinosaur names beginning with Y. it is special for a number of reasons. it is the largest / heaviest dinosaur to show the presence of feathers. it was a carnivorous dinosaur in the tyrannosaur family (hence the name) that lived in North China.
It was up to 30 feet long ( 9 metres) and would have been 3000 plus lbs in weight 9(1400kg) Though estimates vary. thee features could be up to 20 cm long. It lived during the early Cretaceous about 125 million years ago. It was classified and named in 2012.
